RIP Borders

I was wondering the other day, why is Black History Month in February and MLK day in January?  turns out, Black History Month predates MLK day.  In 1926, a Harvard scholar named Carter G. Woodson organized the first annual Negro History Week in 1926. He chose the second week of February in honor of the birthdays of pivotal black supporters Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.  MLK day is observed sometime around his birthday, January 15th.  Questions with answers are always nice.

Sometimes, life would be a whole lot easier if I could just shut my emotions off.

I am officially off the sub list for work and in a permanent [part time] position.  w00t!

I'm hoping the weather tomorrow is as nice as it was today, because I would totally take advantage of it by walking the Noland Trail.

A coworker was surprised I have facebook.  I find this funny.

I just got an email notification from borders that my local store is closing.  the next closest store to me is 40 miles away.  *throws hissy fit*

Music from soundtracks of tv shows that got cancel make me happy and sad at the same time.  long live Veronica Mars and Dead Like Me.

For unknown reasons, I decided to watch Jay Leno tonight.  Mark Harmon was the first guest.  mmmm, love me some Gibbs.

I really do not like google instant, and while I can easily turn it off, whenever I clear my cookies, it gets turned back on.

After over a month of my phone being f-ed up and refusing to send/receive picture messages, I finally went to the verizon store and it is now fixed.  *happy dance*

I've found I really like making photo montages.

Sing us a song, you're the piano man

I decided that instead of 101 things in 1001 days, I am going to do 50 things in 500 days.  half the list in half the time.

I considered going to bed before 8pm tonight.  what has happened to me?

I am officially a CNU graduate, with my diploma and all.  haven't decided if I'll do the walk in May.

We now have two guinea pigs at my apartment.  both so adorable, both so destructive and evil.

I relate to J.D. from Scrubs a bit too much.

Carmen San Diego is a ninja in a red trench coat.

found a game in the office at work today called "Where in Space is Carmen San Diego" - some classics should never be tampered with.

I hope to not hack up my lungs tonight.  we cleaned the office at work and the amount of dust in there, I swear I saw a litter of dust bunnies.

I filled up my gas tank last week and paid over $30.  The last time I paid that much was September 2008

I got my 2011 Camp Firefly application yesterday!!!!!!

I removed the fan from my laptop and installed a new one.  computer is working perfectly and now silently too.  I feel all accomplished doing it on my own, especially since my warranty expired in December.

Why doesn't minimum wage not really equal living wage? it's not to say I don't aspire to do more, but in this economy, it'd be nice if the two were a bit more synonymous.
