I literally got mobbed with hugs yesterday when I went to cover at another center.  it's the ultimate mood lifter.

One of the 3rd grade boys started singing spice girls randomly yesterday.  quite a few variations of the word surprise there.

I did not watch the superbowl.  I watched the new season of Beavis and Butthead instead.  it's so stupid and yet I can't peal myself away.

every time I read about Barnes and Noble struggling, I get paranoid.  I can't imagine life without being able to hold a physical book in my hand, not to mention it's my go to spot for retail therapy.

I am trying to be responsible and not reinstall Sims 3 until I finished some projects.  just because I'm out of college doesn't mean I won't find ways to procrastinate.

It's late December and I ran errands today in a light hoodie and flip flops.  this isn't right.

Barnes and Noble membership costs $25.  you get 10% on every purchase and free shipping.  unless there other rewards I'm not finding on their website, makes me reconsidering buying their membership, the cost doesn't seem worth it...

my kids at work are trying to make us fat.  about ten different kids gave us staff gifts and only one of them wasn't chocolate.  I'm enjoying it now, but will probably regret it later.

I discovered three different photos of me on the CNU-PD website.  funny thing is the photos were taken at least three, maybe four years ago and I'm just now seeing them, despite seeing other photos taken, though none of me, at the same time within months of them being taken.

I am going to start saving my favorite postsecrets and maybe create a personal photo album/book of them.

I finally got internet of my own at the apartment.  haven't officially had it since last August.

I was wondering the other day, why is Black History Month in February and MLK day in January?  turns out, Black History Month predates MLK day.  In 1926, a Harvard scholar named Carter G. Woodson organized the first annual Negro History Week in 1926. He chose the second week of February in honor of the birthdays of pivotal black supporters Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.  MLK day is observed sometime around his birthday, January 15th.  Questions with answers are always nice.

After over a month of my phone being f-ed up and refusing to send/receive picture messages, I finally went to the verizon store and it is now fixed.  *happy dance*

I got my 2011 Camp Firefly application yesterday!!!!!!

I removed the fan from my laptop and installed a new one.  computer is working perfectly and now silently too.  I feel all accomplished doing it on my own, especially since my warranty expired in December.

Why doesn't minimum wage not really equal living wage? it's not to say I don't aspire to do more, but in this economy, it'd be nice if the two were a bit more synonymous.

I occasionally bid on ebay for pez dispensers.  won two out of four bids in the past 24 hours, getting to add five muppets and four simpsons to my collection (win!) sadly, I lost the bid for the four nintendo characters by 50 cents (sad)

I created myself ten new year's resolutions - five which I must do and five which would be nice to do.  here's to hoping I do them all, if not at least the required five.

One thing I do enjoy about being home is the expanded selection of tv channels and the stable internet connection.

My mom did some research and found that with my pay, I make below poverty line.  I am 35 cents above minimum wage for Virginia, and all I can ask is why isn't minimum wage still something people can support just themselves with?  it just doesn't seem right.

I don't have be in Burke more than 24 hours to remember why I never want to move back here - I find myself in the mindset I was in during high school and that's one place I vowed to myself never to return if I don't have to.

I was revising my resume the other day, and realized how unjust it is to be forced to summarize everything I've done with Camp Firefly since 1999 into two sentences.

after the past few weeks at work, I think I should be allowed to add 'making awesome looking train cars out of cardboard boxes' to my resume - I have it down to an art!

I have the knack for getting camera the end with crappy battery life.  ugh.

It's official, I am done with school and will have an official piece of paper saying I've got a degree in sociology and minors in childhood studies and psychology.

I got a call shortly before 10pm saying local schools were closed for Thursday because of impending weather and subsequently, would not have to show up for work.  I think the school system was a bit rash considering nothing has happened yet other than it's cold but can't complain too much about being able to sleep in.
